Travel Information - How to reach Aalborg?

Aalborg is located on the Danish peninsula Jylland (Jutland) about 300 km north of the German border.

By airplane:

There are currently 13 daily flight connections via SAS between Copenhagen and Aalborg. Aalborg is 30 minutes by air from Copenhagen.

Attendees arriving via the airport Copenhagen International airport will leave for Aalborg via Copenhagen Domestic airport that is within ten minutes walking distance or can be reached by the airport-internal shuttle bus. The bus goes daily each 10 minutes - at least - between 08.00 and 22.00.
If you check-in your luggage all the way to Aalborg, you do not need to pick it up in Copenhagen Airport. But if you have checked your baggage to Copenhagen only, you must carry the luggage to the domestic airport.

There are also two daily connections from Billund - in the middle of Jutland - to Aalborg. Billund has direct international connection to the following European major cities: London, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan, Nice and Stockholm.

Aalborg can also be reached by car - highway E45 - or train, both of which are connected to the major transportation systems in Europe.

Aalborg:

Aalborg Airport is 7 km from the city center where most of the hotels are. Taxi fares from the airport to hotels in the city center cost about 90 DKK - tip is included in the price shown on the meter. All taxies are licensed by the city council. There is also an airport bus from the airport to the central bus station - stopping on its way at most of the hotels if the driver is asked for it. The cost is about 30 DKK.

Passport and Visa
A valid passport is required for entry into Denmark. However, an identity card is sufficient for citizens of the EU member-countries.
A Visa is not required for visitors from any of the Western European countries or from the USA, Japan, many South American countries
and the British Commonwealth. For all other countries; please consult the Danish Consulate closest to you. 

Currency Exchange
The Danish currency is ‘krone’ (DKK). At the time of printing (March 2001), the exchange rate to one American dollar is about 8,10 DKK.  The exchange rate to one Euro is about 7,45 DKK. The exchange of foreign currency and travellers cheques is possible in all banks. 
Opening hours on week days are between 09.00 - 16.00 (9 am - 4 pm).

An automatic teller machine (ATM) for credit card withdravals - taking all major credit cards - is available in the lobby of the conference centre.
